The Reading Rocket sported The Number for the Penn State Nittany Lions from 1953 through the 1955 before being drafted by the Baltimore Colts as their first round choice in 1956. In Baltimore Moore had a bit of dyslexia and ended up with 24 and not The Number.Moore retired after the 1967 season. His uniform number (24) was retired by Baltimore, and in 1969 a sportswriters' poll named him to the NFL's 50th Anniversary Team. In 1975, he was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and in 1999, Moore was ranked number 71 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Football Players.
