Brett Sutter was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the 6th round (179th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He made his National Hockey League (NHL) debut for the Flames during the 2008–09 season, scoring a goal in his first game. He is the son of Darryl Sutter, and the eighth member of the Sutter family to play in the NHL.
